Recently, GTSI joined with NetApp, Cisco, and VMware to present a half-day seminar in Washington, DC, focusing on how these technology leaders have teamed to create the industry’s first end-to-end secure multi-tenant architecture. This unique service-oriented infrastructure (SOI) includes all server, storage, and networking hardware and software to facilitate sharing, reuse, and dynamic resource allocation. Integrated presentations led attendees through the business considerations of a Virtualized Dynamic Data Center, its technical components and the tremendous benefits gained from adopting this architecture. Under the leadership of Federal CIO Vivek Kundra, federal agencies—both military and civilian—have been tasked with consolidating and optimizing their IT environments. These initiatives include the adoption of cloud computing and virtualization which can offer agencies better security, more eco-friendly operations, and greater efficiency. The Government Business Council, in partnership with GTSI and Oracle, recently completed an in-depth study of the federal IT environment, examining the attitudes, expectations, and best practices associated with virtualization.
